Excitement!

I did it.  I opened up my Etsy shop.  Phewsh.  I'm absolutely so excited I cannot contain myself.  I only have two items in there, but hey, more is on it's way. ;)  I even have some Robot projects in the mix.

Twister quilt is done

If I could cover myself in this pink Houndstooth fabric, I would.
I ♥ Houndstooth

Over the weekend I decided to work on some UFO's I've had hanging around, and realized I have a lot of them!  Ooops.  I grounded myself from purchasing any new fabric to go towards a new project.  Fabric to complete a project is ok to purchase. LOL...it's the little things.

Quilt blocks for Kilah

In my blogland travels, I ran across a call for quilters to make blocks to donate to a sweet little girl who was badly beaten by her step-dad.  I read the story and immediately emailed to see if I could help.  I committed to two blocks.  Read the story here: http://www.lintonville.com/?p=347  Karen from Lintonville is putting the quilt together.  What an awesome lady.  Here are my blocks.

This one is my favorite.
I had the girls help me pick out girly sweet fabric to put in.
I'm mailing them to Arkansas today. I hope this sweet little girl can recover and know that people all over are pulling and praying for her.

Patchwork Prancer

This one is done.

I couldn't come up with a name...so it's just Patchwork Prancer. ;)

The little baby deers are so cute and vintage.
This is just a simple big square patch quilt, with sashing on the boarders.

And again, I love stripes and stripe-y binding.

Crafty crap shelf

I got a new shelf to house all my 'crafty crap'!  YAY!  I'm so excited.  I mainly got it for the hooks so I won't keep loosing my rulers.  I'm pretty sure I now have enough square rulers, now that I found them all.  They are now easily accessible.  As you can see, I don't have a lot of ribbon. But that little spool for ribbon is nifty, I suppose. Hooks for holding patterns also.  And of course, my pretty books on top. Organization at it's finest. Well, nearly.

Also, worked on the binding for this quilt.  I haven't found a name for this one yet.  I like to name my quilts. It's what I do...I create, and name things. ;)

Weekend Sewing & Farmers Market

I'm pretty confident that my very LEAST favorite part of sewing, is basting the quilt together.  Yah, I hate it.  Oh, and in case you are wondering, blue painters tape does NOT work to hold the bottom down.  Nope.  It's pointless.  And then it's equally awesome when you go grab some different tape, and you pull out the last piece of it. Oh well.  After much grunting and cussing, I did manage to quilt together two quilts.  The twister quilt has it's binding on, all ready for binding.  The plan is to take the two quilts to Sewing circle this week, in between running the kids to swimming lessons then going back, I didn't want to haul around my sewing machine.  Binding is good work for that kind of a day. :)  Binding is my most favorite part.  I remember the days when it was my most hated part of quilting and I did it SO incredibly wrong.  I have some blankets made with the binding SO wrong...but you can't see them.  Sorry. ;)

It's hot here.  Good think my sewing room is in the basement where it's nice and cool. A grouchy sweaty sewing Robot Mom does not make for a good combination. :)

This weekend we went to Gardner Village.  They are having a Farmers Market every Saturday through October.  We went for the pony rides.  We love us some pony rides. This little pony was Rascal Flatts. :)  He was so cute and sweet.
And because we love us some bunnies, here you go. :) This guy was my favorite. He was a HUGE lop and his feet were ginormous.  It was so funny to see him hop along.

Have a good week!

Tuesday Twisters

The Twisters are completed!!  Now I just need to finish up this top.  These are seriously SO much fun. And unbelievably EASY.  In fact, at one point I messed up my whole table that I had them all neatly placed in their respective orders, only to come in and start quilting the baby whale quilt, which of course scattered them all over the floor!  LOL!  Duh...but, needless to say, what began to be sheer panic, resulted in, Oh, this isn't that hard to figure out.  SIGH.  I do love these.  They turn out really cute and cleanly lined up.

LOVE FABRIC and Tuesday's!  Mainly because it's not Monday, and well, that's all.

Baby Whales

Baby Whales quilt is done.  It's so summery and sweet.  I love it!
I just made this pattern up as I went.  I only had a fat quarter of the whale print so I based the quilt off that.
I especially love the back - all whales. :)  Which I ordered online separate after I loved the whales so much.

And polka-dot binding to boot.   Love this!
I'm linking this up to the Summer Sewing Contest here.  Check it out for some awesome summer sewing inspiration.

Thursday Twists

One of my many ongoing projects. I have 2 1/2 rows completed.  This is from the Lil' Twister tool here:

I got the little one, you can use it on charm packs.  It's SO fun and these are addicting.  My only complaint was, had I not read a lot about these prior, the directions are VERY vague and leave you scratching your head.  I mean, you could figure it out, but still...they could have done better instructions and better pictures.  But still, it's a great product and tool and the results are so cute and fun.  I think I'll do another one with maybe only two or three patterns in it, so not so busy.

Anyway-tonight is sewing circle!  I'm super excited.  Haven't been for a while!  Woohoo!

Monday

Happy Monday people!
Thought I would share what I did this weekend.  I finally mastered  figured out Retro Flowers curves.  Thanks to this lovely lady for finding me on Flickr and sending me her tut!  No more puckers!  No more tucks!  No more sweating bullets and cursing like a sailor!  Thank you thank you thank you Rachel!
By the way, the first one I made (and wasted a cute fat quarter with) is in the garbage.  So sad.
BUT - I am so happy to have figured out a much easier and better way.

I also started this.  Quilt top is done, now I just need to buy the backing and all that.  I really hate to buy backing at the same time as the quilt top stuff because I don't know what I will want to back it/bind it with, but at the same time, it's SUCH a pain to have these cute quilt tops finished, then to have them sit till I can make it back to the fabric store.  Oh well...such is life.  Oh, and I still need that part-time job at the fabric store. ;)

P.S.  I'm linking this to Quilt Story Fabric Tuesday! :)

New challenge

Oh great.  Just what I needed.  A new competition/challenge.  Well, I'm in.  Mostly because this one takes place here, in good old SLC!  And it involves Dresdens, which I LOVE!  Count me in.  For the details, see here.  Sounds like fun huh?  Check out the right hand toolbar - I put the widget there. So cute. I love widgets.

So, in regards to my Retro Blossoms quilt...woah.  H.A.R.D.  BUT, I'm not giving up.  I did learn some things from my first block, which turned out horribly awful and I will NOT be posting pictures of it.  But, lessons learned and I will move forward.  It will probably take me a year to make, but it's definitely a challenge and I'm up for it.  That one block took me a week to make. LOL!  Oh dear.

Hope you all have a great weekend!  I'm loving this weather...a little hot, but LOVE it.
:)
