Curves are hard

I made this with my Crazy Curves template that you can get HERE.  I got the 7" size.  They make a pretty big block.

I did this quilt top in Outfoxed by Lizzy House.  It's SO cute, with little hedgehogs (LOVE!) and little foxes (Love MORE!).  This is going to be for Eldest Robot Child.  She's pretty excited.  I just need to figure out what I am going to do for the binding, sashing and back.  As you can see, the blocks are pretty busy, so I don't want the rest to be overwhelming.  Robot Husband says this quilt is CRAZY.  Guess he's right, since it's made with Crazy Curves.  Der.  ;)

Some things I have learned about sewing curves:
One must be patient with oneself.
One must follow the directions (which there are several out there) and find which one works for you.
Keep practicing.  I am also now making a Retro Flowers quilt...I guess I am a glutton for punishment. HAHA.  The Retro Flowers are SO pretty.  Oh goodness.  I have all my fabric picked out in aquas and oranges.  I'm excited.

Seriously tho, I've watched SEVERAL You-Tubes on how to sew circles.  I've tried pinning the crap out of the fabric, not pinning, and just going slow - Oh, and a lot of unpicking my pleats.  Stupid Pleats!  I'm a little in-between on my circle-style.  I like to put a few pins in, sew slow and steady and hold the top fabric up.
I'll work on getting some pictures taken so you know WTH I am talking about.
Phewsh.   I can't wait to show you my progress.
Stay tuned!

Twin Poky Little Puppies - Done!

I finished up the Boy Poky Little Puppy blanket over the weekend.

I love how these blankets turned out.

With my new tags. :)

Yay!  Daughter #2 says that the babies are going to LOVE these quilts!  I sure hope so!

Poky Little Puppy

Warning:  Lots of pictures!
Poky Little Puppy Baby Girl quilt is done!

Oh goodness....these little puppies are SO adorable.

Here's the back

I can't decide which piece is of the fabric collection is my favorite.  They are all delightfully adorable.

And of course, some stripe-y binding.

The baby boy fabric is on it's way to my house as we speak.  As soon as it arrives, I will be doing the same quilt for baby boy. :)

Edited to add:  I got this pattern/tutorial from here - http://www.made-by-rae.com/2010/12/finito-storytime-squares-quilt-in-far-far-away-ii/

Finished and WIP's

Done - wall hanging for letters.
Was WAY harder than I imagined, but that's okay.
I got the tutorial from this awesome blog:  http://whynotsew.blogspot.com/2012/03/farmers-wife-in-your-life-letter-holder.html

Completed Dresden block.  Hanging on my make shift Pantry.  LOVE IT.

Started doing 'rainbow curves', or crazy curves, or rainbow blocks or drunken path.  Whatever you want to call it, that's what I am doing.

What are you all working on?

Do you have any coupons? Why YES! I do!

Yesterday I had my post-op appointment with my Dr.  I 'got' to finally drive myself there.  Phewsh.  Being forbidden to drive for 3 weeks is hellacious.  It completely strips your independence from you.   Not like I would have gone anywhere while I was recovering, but still.  If I needed to, I couldn't.  JoAnn's happens to be on my way home.  I just happened to need some fabric!  In I went, armed with 4 coupons!  Yes, 4 coupons.
Friends, if you have a smart phone, and you shop at JoAnn's and you do NOT have the JoAnn's app, you must get it.  It's free.  Go get it!  Seriously...go now.  You can view all the current coupons and save them in your 'wallet'.  Then when they expire, it will let you know.  All you have to do is read off the incredibly long coupon # to the cashier and voila!  You get your discount.  I had two coupons from JoAnn's, and two from Michaels, since they are now accepting their coupons, why not?!  So, when I presented my delicious fabric to the cashier and when she asked, do you have any coupons?  I gleefully said -  Why Yes!  I have 4 of them!!  Woohoo!  You'll never guess how much I saved.  Guess.  :)  $17.00!!  What??  No seriously!  I did!!!  I was pretty happy with my purchases.

Aren't these gorgeous?  They are much prettier in person.  I'm thinking of making the youngest a skirt out of the top flower print.  It's so pretty.  I stopped buying fabric at JoAnn's a while ago. I didn't like their quality of fabric for my quilts.  But, Denyse Schmidt has started introducing fabrics to JoAnn's and it's higher quality cottons and soooo pretty.  So I thought, why  not.  I will give it a try.  Plus I saved $17 bucks. ;)  Hee hee.

Happy Sewing!
Hugs.

McCall's amateur quilt contest

I entered my Taffy Pull quilt in the McCall's amateur quilters contest about a month or so ago. They just opened up the voting. I'm so excited, I doubt I will win, but hey my quilt is out there. I added a widget on the right hand side for the voting. If you are just stopping by, will you vote for me? A little self-esteem does a lady good! And a big thank you FOR stopping by!! I took some time during my healing/recovery for some sewing. I finished the quilt top for the girl Poky Little Puppy. I also did some more granny squares out of my Pam Kitty Morning fabric. It's a little ruh-diculous at this point, if I could cover my house in Pam Kitty fabric, I would. I don't think the hubs would like it much. But that's his problem. :) I'll post some pictures later. Hugs!
