Elephants and Mustaches

I made these in a fort-night.  Easy peasy.  Then I ran out of mustache fabric and had to scramble to find more!  It's become rather popular...intersting isn't it?

Cancer is so limited...

My best friend's Dad was recently diagnosed with cancer and I knew right away that I wanted to make him a quilt.  I talked to her about it and she mentioned she saw this wonderful saying at the hospital about how cancer is so limited, it cannot destroy families, it can't take away love, our dreams etc.  She wanted to cross-stitch it and we decided what a great idea to incorporate it into his quilt.  She copied the saying and cross-stitched it and I got started on the quilt.

I wanted this quilt to be so perfect, I gave myself stress over it.  I kept running into problems, my machine was not cooperating, I ran out of thread, then I bought the wrong color thread!  It was one thing after the other and I kept thinking, I've never had this many issues on any other quilts.

I wanted it to be comforting to their family and this quilt means so much more than my other quilts. 

It's not perfect.  There are mistakes everywhere.  But this quilt needed to get to him and I just hope that this quilt can bring comfort to him and their family, regardless of it's imperfections.

We've all known someone or a loved one that has been stricken with cancer.  I love this saying and I'm glad my BF found it - it can remind us all that cancer is so invasive and can take away so much, but it can't take away everything from us.

Panda Bear, Panda Bear

These are my latest Stash Bag creations.  I love the panda bear fabric..it's from Japan so it's special.

Plus, I just love how it turned out.

I'm going to try my hand at doing more gathered pouches.  I ordered a gathering foot from Amazon. Um it was $0.01!  One cent!?!?  That is crazy right?  But, shipping was $5 bucks.  Haha...gotta love how that works out.

Being a Farmers Wife is not for me

So, I've wanted to do this post for a while, but I kept thinking to myself, will it be offensive?  I hope not...cuz I am doing it.

Disclaimer:  This is strictly my opinion and the results of my unsuccessfulness and/or suckiness in the attempt of the Farmers Wife blocks.

As most of you know, the Farmers Wife book is quite the trend in Quilting Blogs and guilds everywhere.  I bought the book because I am a sucker for anything.  I tried it.  I failed.  Miserably.  I failed so bad that I don't ever want to try it again.  I wasted so much of my pretty fabric, it made me a wee bit angry inside.
There are SO many gorgeous pictures of successful Farmers Wife blocks out there...and yes-I am envious of them.  But, whenever I see a FW quilt-a-long, I cringe and roll my eyes a bit.

Now with that being said, I am giving away my copy of the Farmers Wife book to a lucky reader who would like it.  To win the book, you must do 2 things for me. HA HA.

Charlie Brown Chevrons

I finished my Charlie Brown Chevrons quilt.

I ♥ how this turned out.

I had it draped over the back of the couch and it looked so perfect there!

Like it was meant to be there.

But alas, this is going in the shop. :)

This was fun to make.  A little bit of challenges getting there, but I persevered

and it turned out...  Well, I think so. :)

Show me your Stache

I'm pretty sure this is the most awesome fabric.

I made a generously sized zipper pouch with it.

Perfect for all sorts of things, pens, pencils....

Or to horde your makeup in if you are like me.

I keep finding makeup bags everywhere with random lip glosses that

I forgot about.  Apparently I buy lip gloss like its going out of style.

I have a problem....I need help.

BUT - isn't this zipper pouch cute!??

Mug Rug

I needed a break from my other projects.

My coffee mug was desperately needing a new coaster.

Every time I picked up my drink, it would come with the coaster, which would then fall to my keyboard

or other working surface and splatter condensation everywhere.

Sigh.

It was annoying me.

I collect selvages from fabric.  I love them.  Don't ask why.

I don't know.  BUT, what a perfect project for them.

I took my favorite ones and paper pieced them.

It was just really simple, nothing fancy.  I didn't even get fancy or worry to much about the quilting,

as you can see on the back of the picture above.

I love that dictionary print fabric and I can't find anymore of it! 
Anyone know where to get some?  It's from Moda.

Sorry - went off on a tangent.

Anyway-my little owl mug is very happy on it's new mug rug.
