Lemon Sorbet

Lemon Sorbet Baby Quilt
It's been snowing here for days.  Trying to get a decent picture of this quilt has been difficult, but the sun did come out for a moment, so I snatched this baby up for picture taking.

I love how bright and cheerful this is.  We need bright and cheeriness!  I have this hanging on the wall right now in my office, pretending it's the sun. HAHA.
This was fun to make.  I wanted to do all yellow with a splash of another color, and when I saw the cute zebra print, I knew that was it.  The back is the same zebra print.  I love it.  It's a light grey and perfect for this quilt.

And of course, a lovely polka-dot binding.
This one is in the shop. :)
Linked up to Quilt Story and Freshly Pieced (although mine wasn't a WIP, it just got pulled out of the dryer!)

Stay warm!!  ♥

2012 - See ya!

I'm pretty glad that 2012 is over.  I am hopeful that 2013 will be a great year.  Perhaps I am overly optimistic...but hey, better that than be a negative Nancy...or something.

In the spirit of starting new and fresh, here is a picture collage of all the quilts I made in 2012.  I'm excited to start new adventures in quilting, and hopefully will have more to share for the last of 2013!

My family has had it's share of trials for 2012.   I had someone tell me to write positive uplifting quotes with a dry erase marker on my mirror, to start the day with a good outlook.    In my quest to find uplifting quotes, I came across information on the lotus flower.  The Buddhists believe that the lotus flower is a sign of spiritual awakening and regrowth. Amazingly, the lotus flower gets it start in the bottom of dirty and muddy water but manages to rise up out of the water and produce a perfect flower.   It rises up to the sun each morning, and is interestingly, clean and pure of the mud.

I found this very interesting and this has helped me in a small way, get through some of our trials.  A simple story, a simple fact that had a big impact on me. I know that's cheesy, but hey - whatever works right?

Here is a quote that is my very favorite of all time and I try to live by it daily:

'Happiness is not something ready made.  It comes from your own actions."  ` Dalai Lama

Anyway, here is to 2013!  Moving on!

XOXO

Every Which Way - But Perfect

Every Which Way - But Perfect
So, I got this as a quilt kit from one of my favorite stores.  I ran into several issues whilst making this quilt.  :(
1)  Ran out of the gray background fabric because I am a moron and cut it wrong.
2) Couldn't find the right 'Shade of Gray' to match what came with the quilt - asked the people at the quilt shop and no one had a clue.  Bummer.
3) The arrows tops that were precut (not by me, some other moron) were cut wrong so my points on most of the arrows got cut off.  BIG bummer.
4)  My sewing machine decided to protest and wouldn't quilt...uh because some moron (okay, me) hadn't cleaned her in quite some time.  It was an embarrassment.
Phewsh...yah-that's a lot of issues for this poor quilt.  Needless to say, it's done.  I love the fabric on the back...and the binding so that made up for it.
Robot Husband made me a quilt rack, so this quilt is...on the rack!
Going back to issue #3, I have a little bit of OCD when it comes to my quilts.  Okay, more than a little.  If my blocks and/or points don't match up perfect, I sort of throw a tantrum that a 3-year old would envy...or be scared of.   I guess I should work on that.  There you go, my New Years Resolution. ;)

Mimi PugPants
And, because everyone luvs a Pug Face....here is our little Mimi.  Isn't she adorable?  Yah, she's got a mug only a mama could love.  She has many different names...each day or so she gets a new one.  Mimi McMuffin, Mimi PugPants, Mimi Puggins,  Mimi McFlurry...Um, we might be obsessed with McDonalds or something.  I blame the kids for that.  If you follow me on Instagram (RobotMomSews), I have a shameful amount of Mimi pictures. I'm not going to apologize.  She makes us happy. Haha.  ;)

In the meantime, I have a few other projects in the works that I am excited about.  Unfortunately, Christmas did a number on me....I didn't touch my sewing machine for like a month and a half or something.  Probably why she protested....

Hugs!
XOXO
