Hiatus

I had surgery a week and a half ago. I have been forbidden from doing anything and everything...although I'm fairly certain blogging didn't fall into that category. Who know tho. I'm terribly bored and tired of the tv. Thank goodness for Amazon!!!! I ordered my Downton Abbey seasons 1 & 2 and received them last week. Just in time because I had watched pretty much everything available on the Dish. Oh I love me some Downton Abbey. Thank the heavens for Masterpiece theatre keeping me in tune with my English soap opera dramas!! Other than that, I did try to sew up part one of two baby quilts. We have some friends having twins so I'm making matching boy/girl quilts. Cute, I know! Well I got about 3/4 of the girl top done today (fairly easy pattern) and then my body failed me and told me to quit. I know, dr's orders and all, but sewing is fairly easy work one would think. Hmmm...I guess when she told me I couldn't do "anything" it was meant literally, rather than just advise? Robot Husband has been taking good care of me and the kids...and the dogs. He does refuse to take care of the bunny, luckily I got that covered with the eldest. ;) Take care fellow sew-ers and crafters alike. I'll return eventually. Hugs.

Wednesday WIP

Drumroll please....Okay, well perhaps we aren't QUITE ready for a drumroll.  My first ever Dresden plate!  It's ALMOST done!  I just have 3 more corners to finish the quilting on and then I can bind this puppy!  I'm loving it.  I had a lot of inspiration on Flickr, ugh-my new obsession.  Great for inspiration, but what a time killer!  I need to stop that...no seriously.

SO, I can now mark off Dresden plates off my list of things to learn....which was posted here:  http://robotmomsews.blogspot.com/2012/02/things-i-must-do.html
I've decided to write down all the sewing things I must do:
1) Learn Hexagons
2)  Color wheel
3)  Go to Sewing Summit in October - Woot Woot!  Anyone wanna go?  Um, we are crossing this off because it was like $350 to go...and it sold out in a mere minutes, IF I had $350 just lying around to begin with.  Sad...I know.4)  Make some potholders, just cuz
5)  Spiderweb blocks
6)  Kitchen Window blocks (Elizabeth Hartman's book)
7)  Make a Wonky Star block quilt  - Mostly done...Kristy got assigned the other half. ;)
8)  Learn free motion (Ugh)  YAY!  Did it!
9) Make a fussy cut quilt
10) Um, finish Robot Husband's Robot Man Quilt (LOL-do you like how he's last?)  Aww, poor guy.

In other news, I keep thinking today is Thursday, or Friday...not sure but in my world, it's definately NOT Wednesday.  Sigh.  Oh well...perhaps I'm too excited for this weekend.  RobotHusband is taking me to see Wrath of the Titans.  EEEEK!  I'm so excited.  If you have no idea what I am talking about, then shame on you.  Shame shame.  ;)
How is everyone?  What are you working on?  DO tell!

Postcard Mini Quilt

My postcard mini-quilt for Daughter #2 is finished!
**Don't worry, if you can't read the words, don't feel bad - My embroidery skills leave MUCH to be desired**  It's sad.  I am going to work on this.
Daughter #1 wants one as well, so I will make her one next.  These are SO much fun.

Here is the back.  I just made little corners to hang it with a dowel.

This was my first one...I'm not terribly proud of it, I'm hoping my 2nd one will turn out better.   This one has a lot of mistakes...oh well, learning experience!

Happy Monday!

Hopscotch Quilt - finished!

Oh Pam Kitty Morning Fabric, how I love thee.....

This fabric is SO sweet, my teeth hurt.
This is my second quilt done using this pattern, which I made up in my head.  I'll be doing a tutorial on it later on, but for now....These babies are resting on a bench.

:) Hugs

Weekend WIP's

Here is what I worked on yesterday while it was snowing/raining...Yah, you heard me right.  This weather is so weird.

It's a kit I got from Pine Needles, it's supposed to be a pillow, but I think I'm going to make it into a wall hanging.  I just need to fill in the address and the embroidery part is done.  Isn't it so sweet?  Kinda makes your teeth hurt huh?  My circle stamp is wee bit crooked. :(  I may end up picking that out and redoing it. Dang it.  And I want to add a little more embellisments to it.  Just to make it EXTRA sweet. :)
